His Holiness "Returns" to the Hammerstein

Check out this article from 1974:

His Holiness the 16th Karmapa first taught publicly in the West in 1974 at New York's Manhattan Center on West 34th Street. Very auspiciously, the Hammerstein Ballroom -- where His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa will present his first public teaching in the U.S. and in the West -- is located at the very same Manhattan Center! Please join us for this historic occasion on Saturday, May 17, at 10:00am, to welcome His Holiness "back" to the Hammerstein Ballroom, where he will teach morning and afternoon sessions on "Awakening the Heart of Enlightenment."

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster:
Buy tickets for morning session
Buy tickets for afternoon session

Note that tickets for the two sessions are sold separately, but that doesn't mean that the afternoon will be a repeat of the morning session.

IMPORTANT NOTE: There may have been some confusion about the start time of the teachings at the Hammerstein Ballroom. The morning session begins at 10:00am and the afternoon session begins at 2:00pm, contrary to what may have been posted on Ticketmaster's website a few weeks ago. Participants are requested to arrive 90 minutes early for security screening (morning arrival 8:30am, afternoon arrival 12:30pm).
